Like any other kid - i always hope that someone (Santa) will hand me something that will do - for a favor... I would even wish that Christmas is going to be fun, and there's should be something more for me... But before i fell to the point of my selfishness - I thank God for reminding something important about Christmas...Thanks to the message and the person he sent to remind me during the Sunday service- preach.
Christmas, though there's a lot of debate about the day of the birth of Jesus Christ - it doesn't matter, anyway. All i know and believe is - this is a day that is tend to be something special - for Christ (actually we should do it everyday). Like a person who is celebrating his/her birthday - we tend to make that person to be happy. The same thing For Jesus.
Whenever you tend to decorate your Christmas tree or beautify your windowpanes with Christmas lights - could those things make Jesus happy? I agree it's good, in fact, those ornaments symbolizes ---Christmas. But were all of those enough to make Jesus happy?
First, let me remind you that the true meaning of Christmas is love. John 3:16-17 says, "For God so love the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but tho save the world through Him." So, the true meaning of Christmas is the celebration of His amazing love for us.
Maybe it's time to stop thinking about yourself, and maybe it's time to stop rushing to the malls since it's a peak season of sales! Christmas is not about parties - well, yes it is good to celebrate it (just remind yourself if it pleases God), but Christmas is not about receiving gifts, actually it's giving - materially? could be, but hope! it's about giving hope to others. Think about those people who couldn't celebrate Christmas due to poverty or those people who even forget Christmas due to problems - spiritually. How about those earthquake or flood victims, those homeless, helpless, or less fortunate kids. Do you think Christmas still exist in their hearts? Or even those people who never knew or never heard about Jesus - or knew Jesus but never appreciate who He is.
Spread the word! Know that the real Christmas story is the story of God's becoming a human being in the Person of Jesus Christ. It's not about Santa Clause who appears in the fireplace... Why did God do such thing? Because He LOVE us! Why was Christmas necessary? Because we needed a Savior! Out of gratitude for what God did for us, we remember His birth by giving each other gifts, worshiping Him, and being especially conscious of the poor and less fortunate.
The true meaning of Christmas is LOVE. God loved His own and provided a way - the only way - for us to spend eternity with Him. He gave His only Son to take our punishment for our sins. He paid the price in full, and we are free from condemnation when we accept that free gift of love.
